THE PRE FIGHT

ACTUAL RECORDED TIME: START TIME 05/11/2004:05:20 PM EST

The SALERA is all pre flighted and is now awaiting take off clearance form the control tower. 5:42Est.

Linda will be test flying the aircraft just with in the boundaries of the X ROW design facility and then she will be landing back to asses the first flight. No chase pilot will be needed for this flight as the control tower will monitor the complete flight.

ACTUAL RECORDED TIME: START TIME 05/11/2004:05:55PM EST.

Linda contacts the tower and is cleared for take off at 05:55PM Est. est.

At 05:56 PM Est. the SALERA takes flight for the very first time. The Flight started with a rise to hover and then a gentle relanding after which Linda took the small craft off and then headed up too a test flight altitude of 1,500 above TPA.

THE CLIMB OUT

ACTUAL RECORDED TIME: START TIME 05/11/2004:06:28PM EST.

The aircraft is reported to climb just great! Linda takes her up for the first time at about 1500 fpm and gets use to the  NOTAR anti torque system. The SALERA is really a fast and agile rotorcraft and helicopter pilots will be amazed at the pure maneuverability of this aircraft. The Rotary control system is a dual redundant control linkage system with fast control input to lift vectoring out puts. Linda reports that this helicopter is a blast to fly. There are several reports that the flight dynamics will need to be adjusted as there are some basic conflict with this aircraft but we can address that at a later date.

All the flight data collected for this flight will be released in the POH of the aircraft. Every so often we get a difficult flight dynamics model and the SALERA is experiencing some pitching problems and we will be landing the aircraft so as to preserve our real time test flight record of no crashes...

Note: In a real time test flight you never can tell what will happen....

Linda approaches the landing area and has a time with the flight controls as this airfile needs some reworking but anything can happen during a real time flight test ...

The aircraft seems to stabilize in low and slow flight but during accelerated climb maneuvers the aircraft had a major pitching conflict!

Well this is one of our first flights in a long time where we had to end the flight because of an airflie flight dynamics conflict. The aircraft will fly but we have to do some more work on it before we conduct a second test flight. we consider this test flight to be the first part of a two part flight testing series as we will need to examine what the problem was on this flight.

This aircraft is not a recreation of any real world aircraft but the original work of a MoTIS engineer. The aircraft at this time needs some major work on the airfile , and a real high quality paint job and rotor blade changes and re-animations. The aircraft fly's well until high speeds are reached and there may be a conflict in the airfoil variables or the drag coefficients in the airfile. This aircraft has been pulled back into our X ROW hangar 32 for further theoretical testing. When we say that we fly and report in real time we mean business and we will be previewing our second fix test flight once we have corrected all the changes to this aircraft.
